Think About Such Things


"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." -Phil 4:8

On September 3rd, I post a blog entitled "Differences".  This post is sort of an extension of that.

Are you tired of the whole election process yet?  I'm getting there.  Most of my Facebook and blog posts lately have been about politics and there are definitely two sides with strong opinions.  It's at this point that I ask God, "Why can't I just write about food, crafts, or ANYTHING happy, light-hearted, and fun???"  Sometimes facing the hard facts just isn't all that joyful!

So, how do we keep our joy amidst the storm?  We must keep our focus.  When you see that you are losing your peace and joy, it's time to step away from the heated conversations.  Return to prayer, reading the word, and receiving strength from God.  It doesn't have to be "go go go" 24/7.  Take a break and come back when you are revived.  Perhaps fast social media for a couple days, etc. 

Before I post I must ask:
Is this true?
Is it right for me to post this?
Are my motives pure?
Is it lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy?

It may not always be a fun topic, but is my heart in the right place when I post about it?

God, open my eyes to the condition of my heart.

  1. Yes, it does ring true. I too have to just "step away" and immerse myself in the Lord to gain my true perspective. However, I believe these are topics we must talk about, discuss. Nov. 6th we elect our leader for the next 4 important years. While we are not "of" the world, we are "in" it. Makes sense to use wisdom for the nation.

  2. This does ring true for me. When I spend time under the shelter of His wings, then I can view issues through His eyes.
    I also believe America has stepped away from the Biblical values on which it was founded, and it is time to return. Therefore we must speak out and seek God on who He wants as the next President. We must stand for what we believe
