Thoughts On “Obamacare” 2 - Taking Charge Of Your Health

Fruit and Veggies!

Who is responsible for my healthcare?

What does the Bible say about keeping our bodies?
How can I improve my health?
What about accidents like broken bones?

Let's look into these questions beginning with scripture.

1. Your Body Is Not Your Own.
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

2. Act Responsibly With What God Has Given You.

It is not good to eat much honey, nor is it glorious to seek one's own glory. Proverbs 25:27

All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be enslaved by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12

3. Stay Spiritually Fit.

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
3 John 1:2

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. John 6:35

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4

4. Be A Good Example.
But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27

5. Those In Authority Don't Always Know Best When It Comes to My Health.
But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs, and the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who assigned your food and your drink; for why should he see that you were in worse condition than the youths who are of your own age? So you would endanger my head with the king.” Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king's food be observed by you, and deal with your servants according to what you see.” So he listened to them in this matter, and tested them for ten days. At the end of ten days it was seen that they were better in appearance and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the king's food. So the steward took away their food and the wine they were to drink, and gave them vegetables. Daniel 1:8-16

When you sit down to eat with a ruler, observe carefully what is before you, And put a knife to your throat If you are a man of great appetite. Do not desire his delicacies, For it is deceptive food. Proverbs 23:1-3

Benjamin Rush, M.D. and signer of the Declaration of Independence, foresaw years ago what has happened to us when he wrote, “Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will come when medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship...the Constitution of this Republic should make special provision for medical...as well as religious freedom.”

If you are interested in learning how to “take charge of your health” I would highly suggest that you look into “Go Natural” by Mark Virkler.
Through his book or dvd series you will learn how to:

*Detoxify your body (and soul and spirit)
*Rebuild your immune system
*Nourish your body's cells

I have really benefited from the information provided by Dr. Virkler. I do like how he mentions “tempering law with grace”. I can easily get caught in the frustrating feeling of “not doing it right”, but the way that he teaches is very inspirational without making me feel like a horrible person for not always living the “perfect” health life. As we take steps towards better health and ask God for his wisdom and strength, and walk it out, I believe we will all reap amazing benefits. God did not intend for us to live in poor health.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

So, what about those who have been taking care of their health Biblically, but they sprain, break, or pull something and cant afford medical care? Well, that's where Medi-Share comes in. It's a participant-based program where Christians share in each other's healthcare costs. (Not available in Montana.)  Check it out here: http://mychristiancare.org/medi-share/

  1. Many people aren't satisfied the ObamaCare. I myself feel that it's still lacking with clear medical health provision. My Omaha dentists also mentioned that our medical insurance should always include a good dental health provision.
